Quiet man cottage location. On the afternoon of wednesday 6 august 2014 our own ryan o rourke had the opportunity to visit the site of the old white o morn cottage in tiernakill maumm county galway. Quiet man cottage museum is a novel concept which will give the visitor a total quiet man experience as if they were actually on set. The search for the thatched cottage which would become white o morn in the movie the quiet man started long before the filming began in june 1951.

The village of cong straddling counties mayo and galway in the west of ireland is the most famous quiet man filming location as it represents the majority of the fictional inisfree in the film. It also survives and is located on the estate of ashford castle. This old site which now lies in ruins is better known to the world as the quiet man cottage.

Then we have a truly beautiful cottage that is still exactly the same today. The white o morn cottage in ternakill maam county galway was the love nest of fiery mary kate danaher and sean thornton aka maureen o hara and john wayne in the 1952 john ford helmed movie. It remains largely unchanged from an aesthetic point of view since filming in 1952 and as a result is a hugely popular tourist location.

White o morn cottage also known as quiet man cottage is located just south of maam near lough corrib. Located by the river at circular road cong between actual locations used for the filming the ground floor of the cottage has been designed as an exact replica of white o mornin cottage.
